ANYbotics was founded in 2016 as a spin-off of ETH Zurich and is headquartered on Hagenholzstrasse in Zurich. The company builds quadrupedal inspection robots for industrial plants that need to regularly monitor their facilities without sending personnel into hazardous areas.
The core offering is ANYmal, an IP67-rated quadruped with a rotating sensor pod on its back. Integrated components include a 360-degree lidar, six depth cameras, a zoom camera with twenty-times magnification, a thermal imaging camera, and an ultrasonic microphone, powered by two Intel Core i7 processors. The ANYmal X variant is certified to ATEX and IECEx up to Zone 1, with the fuselage pressurized with nitrogen to prevent any ignition sources inside.
ANYbotics occupies a niche that neither Boston Dynamics nor Chinese providers fully cover: certified, repeatable facility inspection with onboard measurement technology. Users include Petronas, Shell, Equinor, Woodside, BASF, and Petrobras. For the Swiss robotics landscape, ANYmal is the most well-known product of all.
