X-Humanoid, officially the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, was founded in November 2023 in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development District. It is a state-backed innovation center that received the status of a 'National-Local Jointly Built Embodied Intelligence Robotics Innovation Center' in 2024.
The core product is the Tiangong platform, which is considered the world's first fully electrically powered humanoid legged robot. Tiangong achieves an average speed of 10 km/h and a peak speed of 12 km/h. The platform was released as an open-source project to expand the developer community. Variants such as the Tiangong 1.2 Max enable teleoperation for industrial inspection tasks.
X-Humanoid exemplifies China's state-sponsored strategy to take a leading role globally in humanoid robotics. The open-source release of the Tiangong platform has made the project known in the international research community. In an initial funding round, the center raised approximately 700 million yuan (approximately 100 million US dollars) in 2026.
