AEI Robot was founded in 2018 in Ansan, South Korea, and develops humanoid robots from the ALICE series for demanding industrial environments. The company is among the few Korean players in the humanoid segment and is a member of the K-Humanoid Alliance. NVIDIA is invested as an investor, underscoring the start-up's technological orientation.
The core of development is a proprietary gearless linear actuator that enables precise force control without mechanical gearing. The ALICE 4 is 160 cm tall, weighs 45 kg, and features 41 degrees of freedom; it is designed for applications in shipbuilding and construction and has already been tested in industrial field trials. Additionally, there is the ALICE M1 as a mobile, wheel-based semi-humanoid platform with a 7-DoF arm for manufacturing tasks, as well as the AIMY as a reception robot and the EDIE as a companion robot.
AEI Robot positions itself as a South Korean alternative to the dominant US and Chinese humanoid manufacturers. The NVIDIA stake and membership in the K-Humanoid Alliance signal technological relevance in the Asian market. At CES 2026, the company presented its robots as part of the Humanoid M.AX Alliance, which demonstrates growing international visibility.
