Galaxea Dynamics was founded in September 2023 in Beijing by a team of scientists from Tsinghua and Stanford universities. The company is led by Gao Jiyang, who previously worked on autonomous driving at Google's Waymo division and at Chinese provider Momenta. Galaxea positions itself as a full-stack provider for embodied AI, from hardware through perception to AI models.
The company became known for its wheeled dual-arm robots from the R1 series and the lightweight robotic arm A1. In June 2026, Kengo followed as the company's first in-house developed bipedal humanoid, deliberately designed with only two core modules for all joints to enable cost-effective mass production. Control is based on the proprietary AI model, which Galaxea develops in collaboration with Stanford, among others.
Galaxea was most recently valued at nearly 700 million US dollars and raised additional capital. Customers include major technology companies such as ByteDance and Samsung. This makes the company one of the notable newcomers on the Chinese robotics scene.
