Overview

Kengo is Galaxea Dynamics' first in-house developed bipedal robot, a company founded in 2023 in Beijing specializing in embodied AI. The machine was unveiled on June 2, 2026. For Galaxea, it marks a transition away from their previous wheel-based systems toward a true legged robot. According to the company, deliveries are possible within a few weeks.

Construction

At approximately 1.40 meters in height and about 40 kilograms in weight, Kengo is deliberately kept compact and lightweight. The design is highly standardized: two core modules cover all joints, simplifying manufacturing and reducing costs. The knee joint delivers over 130 newton-meters of torque, sufficient for dance routines and agile movements. The head features a curved display with light contours, complemented by dexterous hands that can be swapped out for boxing gloves if needed. Kengo is offered in three color variants.

Technology and AI

Galaxea combines a powerful motor-cerebellum for movement with a higher-level thinking module for environmental understanding. The foundation is the company's proprietary model family, which it develops in collaboration with Stanford University, among others. The robot receives updates over the air. Per charge, it operates for approximately two hours.

Market Significance

Galaxea Dynamics is regarded as one of the ambitious Chinese newcomers and was recently valued at nearly 700 million US dollars. Its customers include major names such as ByteDance and Samsung. With Kengo, the company aims to demonstrate that a legged robot can be mass-produced at controllable costs for industry, commercial services, and eventually domestic use.
