About the Company

Overview

ABB Robotics is the Robotics Division of technology company ABB, headquartered in Zurich. Together with FANUC, KUKA and Yaskawa, it ranks among the four leading industrial robot manufacturers worldwide. In October 2025, ABB signed a contract for the disposal of its Robotics Division to SoftBank Group for 5.375 billion US dollars. Completion of the transaction is expected for mid to end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

Technology and Products

The portfolio ranges from large industrial robots of the IRB 6700 series with payload capacities up to 310 kilograms, through collaborative robots such as GoFa and SWIFTI, to YuMi, the world's first truly collaborative robot without safety fencing at its market launch in 2015. Delta robots from the FlexPicker series complement the offering for high-speed handling applications.

Market Significance

ABB Robotics achieved revenues of 2.3 billion US dollars in 2024 and employed approximately 9,300 employees at the end of 2025. ABB Robotics Schweiz AG is registered as an independent Swiss company. Following the expected acquisition by SoftBank Group, the division will continue to serve its global industrial customers under new ownership.
