VinMotion was founded in January 2025, with Vingroup holding 51 percent and the remaining shares held by group CEO Pham Nhat Vuong and his sons. The initial capital amounts to approximately 39 million US dollars. Scientific director is Quan Nguyen, doctor of mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and assistant professor at USC.
Motion_1 is Vietnam's first bipedal humanoid and was developed within three months of the company's founding. Five prototype generations were tested internally. The robot lifts loads of up to 40 kilograms, recognizes objects, responds to voice commands, and emphasizes a "Human in the Loop" safety concept. Motion_2 demonstrates enhanced capabilities such as five-finger grasping and self-charging.
VinMotion positions itself as proof of Vietnam's emerging technology industry. Motion_1 has been in use since August 2025 at a VinFast electric vehicle factory. Vingroup has additionally invested 12.75 million US dollars in a US-based humanoid research company, underscoring its international ambitions.
