LG Electronics was founded in Seoul in 1958 and is today a global conglomerate for consumer electronics, home appliances, and vehicle components with approximately 73,000 consolidated employees. Since 2024, robotics activities have been bundled in the Home Appliance Solution Company division, which leverages synergies between home appliance expertise and autonomous mobility.
Under the CLOi brand, LG offers commercial service robots: GuideBot for reception and navigation, ServeBot for delivery in hospitality and healthcare, and UV-C robots for disinfection. In late 2025, LG announced the CLOiD, a home humanoid with two 7-DOF arms and five-finger hands, which was first publicly demonstrated at CES 2026.
LG Electronics is among the few major conglomerates that have both commercial service robots on the market and are investing in home humanoids. The global distribution infrastructure and home appliance expertise give LG access to industries that are difficult to reach for many pure robotics startups.
