About the Company

Overview

Hexagon Robotics is the robotics division of Swedish corporation Hexagon AB, headquartered in Stockholm, which made its mark with measurement technology and software for digital reality and employs over 20,000 people worldwide. In June 2025, the division presented its first humanoid robot AEON at its trade show HxGN LIVE in Las Vegas, designed for factory, warehouse and inspection applications.

Technology and Products

AEON is 165 centimeters tall, weighs 60 kilograms and uses a wheel-leg concept: on flat ground it rolls at speeds up to 2.4 meters per second, and climbs stairs using its legs. More than 22 sensors, including industrial LiDAR, feed the spatial AI, computed on NVIDIA Jetson, trained with the Isaac platform, with cloud infrastructure running on Microsoft Azure. Drives are supplied by Swiss motor manufacturer maxon. The end effectors are interchangeable, from the five-finger hand to the scan attachment.

Market Significance

AEON ranks among the most serious European responses to humanoid competition from the US and China. Supplier Schaeffler is testing an entire fleet, and BMW brought the robot into production in early 2026. Parent company Hexagon AB is listed on the Stockholm stock exchange.
