Donut Robotics was founded in 2014 in Fukuoka and is now based in Tokyo. The company operates at the intersection of communication technology and robotics. It gained recognition with the smart mask C-FACE before announcing Cinnamon, its first humanoid robot.
The C-FACE is a lightweight protective mask with app connectivity that amplifies speech and can translate into eight languages. It was presented at CES 2022 and received broad media attention. With Cinnamon 1, Donut Robotics is pursuing entry into bipedal humanoids for real-world work applications, planned from late 2026.
Donut Robotics ranks among the smaller Japanese robotics startups with a focus on human-machine communication. The company was selected in 2016 for the Haneda Airport Robot Project, which early on indicated a practical deployment focus. In the humanoid segment, Cinnamon 1 is still ahead of commercial breakthrough.
