Overview

The Cinnamon 1 is the first fully-fledged humanoid robot from Japanese company Donut Robotics based in Tokyo, which was previously known primarily for the offline translator ili. The robot is at an early stage, with little detailed technical data published.

Technology and AI

A core feature is control via hand and finger gestures instead of voice, which is intended to facilitate deployment in noisy environments such as construction sites or factories. This is complemented by image processing and an AI stack that integrates perception, language, and action. The current prototype is built from off-the-shelf components, with future production planned in Japan.

Market Significance

Intended applications include customer service, retail security, and light industrial tasks, with initial deployment in factories and on construction sites targeted for end of 2026. Reliable specifications regarding size, weight, degrees of freedom, or a binding price could not be found.
