TARS Robotics was founded in Beijing in February 2025 and has raised more than 575 million US dollars within just a few months, including the largest Pre-A round in China's embodied AI sector to date. The company is backed by managers from Huawei Autonomous Driving, DJI, and Baidu.
The Foundation Model AWE 3.0 enables the robot to understand physical properties such as hardness, surface roughness, and slip risk of objects, and to proactively avoid errors. The industrial humanoid A1 (167 cm, 35 DOF) set a Guinness World Record in spring 2026 with 105 sub-millimeter precision wire harness assemblies in one hour. The DexHand, presented at ICRA in 2026, offers 21 degrees of freedom and fingertip resolution of 0.05 mm at over 240 Hz.
TARS Robotics explicitly targets precision manufacturing applications that other humanoids find too demanding, such as wiring harness production and fine textile processing. The combination of a world-class founding team, unusually high early-stage funding, and demonstrable precision achievements has quickly brought the startup significant international attention.
