About the Company

Overview

Lumos Robotics was founded in Shenzhen in September 2024 and unveiled a complete humanoid platform with proprietary components within just a few months. CEO Yu Chao comes from the Xiaomi CyberDog team. Mitsubishi Electric has been on board as lead investor since May 2026.

Technology and Products

Lumos relies on self-developed cycloidal joint modules made from PEEK plastic, which are designed to reduce weight by roughly 40 percent and increase torque density by roughly 60 percent. The LUS1 (170 cm, 60 kg) and LUS2 (160 cm, 65 kg) form the core series for industrial applications. The more compact NIX (89 cm) is designed as a developer and university platform and can perform handstands and backflips. The Nexcore Physical-AI engine combines visual-language-action models with world models.

Market Significance

Despite its very recent inception, Lumos Robotics has demonstrated technical metrics that turn heads in the industrial humanoid segment, with FastUMI data collection (over 10,000 hours of real-world data) and dual-arm payload capacity of 50 kg. Through the EDGE project, launched in June 2026, the company is distributing 100 NIX robots free of charge to developers and universities worldwide.
