Kawasaki Robotics is the robotics division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) headquartered in Akashi, Japan. In 1969, the company manufactured the first mass-produced industrial robot in Japan, the Kawasaki Unimate 2000, based on a license from Unimation. Today, Kawasaki Robotics operates branches in the USA, Europe and Asia, including Kawasaki Robotics GmbH in Neuss, Germany.
The portfolio includes welding, handling and painting robots from the Z, R, BX and K series as well as cleanroom robots from the NS/NX/NT lines. With duAro, Kawasaki launched a dual-arm SCARA cobot for collaborative assembly in 2015. The control architecture is based on a fully digital AD controller with EtherCAT communication. The research humanoid Kaleido demonstrates interest in bipedal platforms.
