Cyan Robotics, officially registered as Shanghai Qingxin Yichuang Technology Company, was founded in Shanghai in late 2023. The company emerged from the Humanoid Robot Innovation Incubator in the Xuhui district. Founder Niu Tengdi previously worked as a researcher in autonomous driving at Toyota and Huawei.
The flagship product Orca is a humanoid robot with a custom-developed emotional gait model based on a large language model. The robot changes its walking style depending on the situation and emotional context. The OLED display on the head is used to convey emotions and facilitate human-machine interaction. Orca is priced at approximately 40,000 to 50,000 USD.
Cyan Robotics targets the Orca robot at applications in elder care, education, and physical therapy. The emotional gait control is a differentiating feature compared to purely function-oriented competing products. As an early-stage start-up, the market position is still being established.
