Yaskawa was founded in 1915 in Kitakyushu, Japan, and is today counted among the four leading industrial robotics corporations in the world. The company is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under ticker 6506 and, in addition to industrial robots, also offers servo motors and frequency converters. The robotics division operates worldwide under the name Motoman.
The Motoman product line covers welding, palletizing, material handling, painting and cleanroom applications with payloads from 3 to 500 kilograms. More than 400,000 Motoman robots as well as 15 million servos and 26 million frequency converters are installed worldwide. Yaskawa produces up to 24,000 robots per year and is thus among the largest robot manufacturers in the world.
Alongside FANUC, ABB and KUKA, Yaskawa is regarded as one of the four pillars of global industrial robotics. The broad product portfolio and long-standing presence in the automotive industry, electronics and food processing sectors secure the corporation a strong competitive position. Yaskawa is represented in Europe through its own subsidiaries, which facilitates access for Swiss customers as well.
