Omron Robotics traces its roots to Japanese automation conglomerate Omron Corporation, which was founded in Kyoto in 1933. The robotics activities were significantly expanded in 2015 through the acquisition of Adept Technology, then the leading US manufacturer of industrial robots and autonomous mobile platforms. The Robotics subsidiary is headquartered in Fremont, California.
The TM series comprises collaborative robot arms with 4 to 30 kg payload capacity and integrated camera unit for simple image processing. The newer TM S series expands the portfolio with faster joints and higher payloads of up to 30 kg. AMRs from the LD/OL/MD/HD series handle autonomous navigation without track guidance and carry loads of up to 1,500 kg. The product range is complemented by SCARA and Delta robots from the Adept heritage as well as the proprietary TMflow programming environment.
Omron combines its cobots and mobile robots with a broad automation portfolio of controllers, sensors, and safety technology, enabling systems integrators to obtain a comprehensive solution from a single source. A dedicated Swiss distribution subsidiary and several authorized distributors ensure local customer proximity. The partnership with Neura Robotics announced in 2024 signals interest in cognitive robot platforms.
