Haier Group was founded in 1984 in Qingdao and is today one of the world's largest household appliance manufacturers. The listed core company, Haier Smart Home (600690), employs around 135,000 employees worldwide and operates brands such as GE Appliances, Fisher & Paykel and Candy. In addition to its core business, Haier has built an independent robotics division since 1999.
Haier Robot has been developing industrial robots for injection molding machines since 1999; the portfolio comprises over 50 models in four series. In 2024, Haier acquired a majority stake in robot control specialist New Times Robotics. In July 2025, Haier presented the home humanoid HIVA Haiwa, a 165 cm tall prototype with 44 degrees of freedom and wheeled chassis for household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and simple cooking.
Haier is one of the few global conglomerates that combines household appliance expertise, manufacturing capacity and its own robotics division under one roof. The acquisition of robot control technology and the establishment of subsidiary Haier Brothers Robotics Technology underline the ambition to play a role in the growing market for service and household robotics.
