Overview

The HIVA Haiwa is a humanoid household robot that Chinese appliance manufacturer Haier introduced in July 2025. Haier markets it as a helper for everyday tasks, using the tagline Housework Terminator.

Design

The robot stands 165 centimeters tall and weighs 70 kilograms. Instead of legs, it moves on a stable, mobile base. It features 44 degrees of freedom and dexterous hands, and can reach objects up to approximately two meters high.

Technology and AI

Currently, the HIVA Haiwa is controlled remotely via teleoperation, allowing it to gather data and refine its capabilities. Haier aims to gradually enable it to work autonomously through advanced, cloud-based AI. The robot is closely integrated with Haier's smart home network and can coordinate tasks directly with household appliances, such as ovens, cooktops, and refrigerators. Demonstrated tasks include mopping, tidying up, removing laundry from the machine, ironing and folding, as well as simple cooking steps.

Market Significance

The HIVA Haiwa is in the prototype or early market introduction stage. The reported price is around 80,000 US dollars. With this robot, Haier underscores its ambition to extend its strength in connected household appliances to the field of humanoid home robots.
