Overview

Memo is the home robot from Sunday Robotics based in Mountain View, California. The start-up, founded by Stanford roboticists Tony Zhao and Cheng Chi, emerged from stealth in November 2025. The robot autonomously clears dining tables, loads the dishwasher, folds socks, and even pulls an espresso. A beta program with select families launches in late 2026, with general availability to follow later.

Design

Memo deliberately forgoes legs. The roughly 77-kilogram robot rests on a stable wheeled base, typically operates at around 1.2 meters in height, and reaches from the floor to approximately 2.1 meters. The soft silicone exterior with no sharp edges can be wiped clean with household cleaners. If power fails, the machine simply remains standing thanks to passive stability, and compliant control allows the arms to be pushed aside by hand at any time. A single charge provides around four hours of operation.

Technology and AI

The core is the proprietary foundation model ACT-1, trained on roughly 10 million real household episodes from over 500 homes. The data does not come from teleoperators, but from people recording everyday tasks using the patented Skill Capture Glove; over 2,000 of these gloves are already in circulation. What the glove demonstrates, Memo learns—even in homes the robot has never seen before.

Market Significance

In March 2026, Sunday raised 165 million US dollars in a Series B led by Coatue, at a valuation of 1.15 billion. A hand-crafted Memo currently costs approximately 20,000 US dollars, with the eventual market price expected to drop significantly through mass production. In the race for household robots, Sunday is regarded alongside 1X and Weave as one of the most serious contenders.
