Overview

Reflex is a mobile humanoid manipulator developed by Reflex Robotics, a New York-based startup founded in 2022. The company develops cost-effective, versatile robots for repetitive and physically demanding tasks in warehouses and manufacturing. Reflex Robotics is supported by, among others, Khosla Ventures.

Design

Instead of bipedal locomotion, Reflex relies on a wheeled base that provides stability and extended runtime. The dual arms deliver more than twice human strength and lift over 25 pounds per arm. An adjustable torso adapts the height from floor level to high shelves, the chassis measures less than 60 by 60 centimeters and allows 360-degree rotation in place. Battery runtime exceeds 16 hours, and setup takes approximately 60 minutes.

Technology and AI

The robot is primarily teleoperated, with a human in the control loop. According to the company, remote control is possible over long distances and via WiFi with low latency.

Market Significance

With a price under 50,000 USD, Reflex targets logistics, manufacturing, and e-commerce, such as order picking, palletization, and material handling. Pilot projects are underway with logistics provider GXO, among others.
