Overview

The B2 is Unitree Robotics' large industrial model and was introduced in November 2023. Unlike the Go series, it is not aimed at education and hobbyists, but rather at inspection tasks in energy facilities, network infrastructure and industrial plants, as well as load transport in rugged terrain.

Construction

Standing, the robot measures approximately 110 by 45 by 64.5 centimeters and weighs around sixty kilograms with battery. Maximum joint torque is 360 newton-meters. Standing, it carries over 120 kilograms, walking over forty. The battery is plug-in and swappable during operation; optionally, the robot charges autonomously at a docking station. Wheel feet are available as an alternative to paws. An interface strip with four Gigabit Ethernet and four USB 3.0 connectors as well as 12- and 24-volt taps runs around the entire robot.

Technology and AI

Computing power is provided by an Intel Core i5 for platform functions and a Core i7 for custom development, expandable to up to three modules or an NVIDIA Orin NX. Perception includes a 3D Lidar, two depth cameras and two optical cameras. The 45 amp-hour and 2250 watt-hour battery lasts over five hours unloaded with over twenty kilometers range; with twenty kilograms load still over four hours. IP67 protection rating and a temperature range of minus 20 to plus 55 degrees enable continuous outdoor deployment.

Market Significance

The specification of over six meters per second comes from a special configuration and is limited in normal operation, yet the B2 is considered the fastest industrial quadruped. Unitree does not provide a price. For operators, the combination of payload capacity, runtime and weather resistance is particularly interesting, making the robot suitable for entire shifts.
