Overview

The Honey Badger comes from MAB Robotics in Poland and is the most well-known quadruped in Central and Eastern Europe. Version 5.0 is the current production platform, with predecessor 4.0 continuing in parallel. The device is designed for a niche that hardly any other manufacturer serves: sewers, tunnels, and flooded terrain.

Construction

With a body measuring just fifty by thirty centimeters, the Honey Badger is significantly smaller than all other models in this selection. Height varies between thirteen and fifty centimeters depending on body posture. It weighs seventeen kilograms and can carry up to five. The construction is fully sealed and waterproof to IP66, with an approved temperature range from zero to forty-five degrees. A mounting surface for sensor and tool modules sits on top.

Technology and AI

The robot is deliberately built as a carrier platform and comes without fixed sensors. Instead, it provides two onboard computers, an open architecture, and dedicated communication and power interfaces for external sensors. It is connected via WLAN in the five-gigahertz band or via fiber optic cable, controlled via computer or remote control. A self-righting algorithm gets it back on its feet after a fall. Runtime is up to two hours.

Market Significance

MAB Robotics is ISO 9001 certified. For the device itself, the company provides no certification and no price. The Honey Badger demonstrates that a position can be found in this category outside the major manufacturers if you choose an environment that other devices simply cannot access.
