Overview

The RBQ-10 is Rainbow Robotics' current quadruped model and the leading device in its class in Korea. Since February 2025, Samsung has been the largest shareholder of the company and invested approximately 267 billion won for this stake. The predecessor RBQ-3 has disappeared from the official product line.

Construction

The robot measures 98 by 43 by 62 centimetres and weighs 42 kilograms. It can carry fifteen kilograms. It handles longitudinal slopes up to 45 percent, transverse slopes up to twenty, and steps up to twenty-five centimetres. The protection rating is IP54. The battery is replaceable, and additionally the robot autonomously docks at a charging station, enabling unsupervised continuous operation.

Technology and AI

Walking, the RBQ-10 reaches nine kilometres per hour, up to fourteen in running mode. Sensors include an inertial measurement unit, two RGB cameras with depth information and four additional depth sensors, optionally a 3D lidar as well as a 4K pan-tilt camera and a thermal imaging camera. It connects via WLAN, optionally via cellular. Interfaces include taps at 54 and 12 volts, CAN as well as three gigabit ethernet connections. Operating time is two hours, with spare battery up to four. The manufacturer does not publish the computing core and price.

Market Significance

Since 2024, Rainbow Robotics together with Hyundai Rotem has also supplied quadrupeds to the South Korean military. Samsung's involvement demonstrates that large electronics corporations now classify this category as strategically important. Note on older reports: They still circulate outdated values of four kilometres per hour and ten kilograms payload capacity.
