Overview
Voxel Series-1 is the first robot from Tuesday Labs, a robotics lab and design studio from New York City. The company unveiled it on October 20, 2026, and simultaneously opened reservations. Voxel is designed for the household, where it will tidy up, find misplaced items, fetch objects, and water plants. The manufacturer itself describes it as a development prototype whose hardware will undergo significant revisions before series production. According to reports, production and the first shipments in the USA are planned to begin in 2028.
Design and Construction
At first glance, it stands out that Voxel has no head of its own. A tall, box-shaped front panel in mustard yellow takes on the role of a face, with two square LED eyes embedded in it. The body is constructed from flat panels in yellow, brown, and pink, while the arms are finished in a muted rose tone. Each of the two arms has seven degrees of freedom and a fully actuated wrist, but gripping is accomplished not with fingers but with simple grippers with a single degree of freedom. The legs are Z-shaped with backward-bending knees, and the feet are designed to absorb impact upon contact. Tuesday Labs has not yet published height and weight specifications.
Technology and AI
For perception, Voxel combines two stereo RGB cameras with a separate wide-angle camera. It communicates with its inhabitants via speech as well as light and sound signals; additionally, there are controls located directly on the robot. According to reports, the movements are based on machine learning models trained from animations, allowing the robot to move smoothly and clearly legibly through the home. Many capabilities are still in development according to the company.
Market Significance
Voxel targets private households, the same segment where providers like 1X with the NEO and Figure are competing for their first customers. Tuesday Labs is taking its own path, as rather than opting for a body as human-like as possible with finger hands, the startup focuses on a deliberately playful figure with simple gripping technology. Behind the company are founder Ros Shinkle, previously a roboticist at Boston Dynamics, as well as investors like Y Combinator. Whether this character-driven approach will prove convincing in everyday use will only become clear once the series version is available.
