Overview
Plim is the household robot from Munich-based Plim Robotics, which operated under the name Devanthro until October 2026. With the rebranding, the company has publicly unveiled the robot, which is designed to support people in their daily lives at home and has its roots in elderly care. Interested parties can register with the manufacturer; the company has not announced a delivery date.
Design
Plim stands 1.65 meters tall and weighs 80 kilograms. Instead of legs, it moves on an omnidirectional base with three wheels, above which sits an upper body with two arms, each with seven degrees of freedom and capable of lifting up to three kilograms. Gripping is handled with simple two-finger grippers. Striking is the casing, as a soft knitted fabric cover is designed to absorb impacts, and owners are encouraged to personalize the robot with clothing or accessories. The head features a display screen that shows the face of the controlling person in remote control mode.
Technology and AI
An Nvidia Jetson Thor serves as the processor, the software is built on ROS 2, and the joints are powered by quasi-direct-drive actuators. For perception, Plim combines a 4K fisheye camera, stereo and depth cameras, millimeter-wave radar, and stereo microphones, while computational load is distributed between the robot and the cloud, connected via 5G or WLAN 6. The manufacturer provides for two operating modes: in autonomous mode, Plim completes recurring tasks independently; in so-called step-in mode, a family member or caregiver from up to 9,000 kilometers away takes control and transmits voice, face, and movements. According to the manufacturer, the battery lasts around two hours, after which the robot automatically returns to the charging station.
Market Significance
Plim targets families and care organizations, with the manufacturer citing typical tasks such as dusting, medication reminders, or group exercise. Notably, the concept deliberately combines autonomy and human remote control rather than leaving household tasks solely to artificial intelligence. According to the company, it has already been operating robots in real homes since 2024. In the household humanoid segment, Plim faces competition such as the NEO from 1X and is among German providers specifically addressing the home environment and care needs.
