Overview

The Ameca Desktop is the desktop variant of the world's most renowned expressive humanoid. Engineered Arts from Cornwall brings the facial expressions of the large Ameca into a format that fits on a reception desk. The third generation launched in June 2026 and is sold and rented directly by the manufacturer.

Design & Construction

The device measures 52.5 by 42 by 26 centimeters and weighs 8.5 kilograms, consisting of a head, neck, and minimal shoulder assembly. 32 degrees of freedom are distributed across 27 in the face and five in the neck. The construction uses silicone, aluminum, steel, and plastic. The design follows a deliberate choice: the skin is gray, not human-colored, and the head is gender-neutral and hairless. Rather than pursuing realism, Engineered Arts makes it visible that a machine is sitting here. The shell is available in white or black, custom colors upon request.

Technology & AI

The eyes house two HD cameras, the chest contains an HD wide-angle camera as well as a spatial microphone array and a 40-watt speaker. An mmWave radar detects people in the vicinity. The device connects via Ethernet cable or WLAN and operates on two 24-volt supplies at 200 watts. On the software side, it runs Tritium robotOS with Tritium AI, which can be integrated with common language models and speech synthesis. The head is certified according to CE and FCC standards.

Market Significance

Engineered Arts does not publish a list price; the identical sister model Ami is offered by specialist retailers for approximately 72,500 US dollars. The Ameca Desktop is the best-selling pure head variant in the Ameca family and represents for many businesses the most affordable entry into expressive robotics without having to install a full-body robot along with a safety zone.
