Overview

The Alpha is a mobile robot from Swiss company Duatic, which emerged from the robotics research environment at ETH Zurich. It is not a classical humanoid with legs, but rather a wheel-based platform with two arms.

Design

The robot reaches a height of approximately 1.75 meters. The mobile base can carry a payload of up to around 200 kilograms, and exchangeable batteries allow continuous operation around the clock. Two arms from the in-house DynaArm series are deployed.

Technology and AI

Each DynaArm weighs only around nine kilograms, offers a reach of 1.1 meters, and continuously carries approximately six kilograms, significantly more for short periods. The end effectors achieve speeds of up to ten meters per second, the arms are protected to IP66 standard, and are controllable via an open interface. The robot navigates and manipulates autonomously using camera-based technology.

Market Significance

Duatic lists logistics, intralogistics, and manufacturing and storage as application fields, where heavy-duty transport and dual-arm manipulation are in demand. An exact presentation date or series launch date, as well as a price, could not be definitively verified.
