Overview

The X30 from DEEP Robotics in Hangzhou was unveiled in October 2023 and has become the standard device in China for facility inspection. It is deployed primarily in substations, tunnels, and mining operations—locations where humans need to conduct regular inspections but the environment is uncomfortable or hazardous.

Design

The robot measures 100 by 69.5 by 47 centimeters and weighs 56 kilograms with battery; the Pro version weighs 59 kilograms. It is IP67 protected and operates from minus 20 to plus 55 degrees Celsius. It handles slopes up to 45 degrees and steps from twenty centimeters upward, with a speed of at least four meters per second. The battery can be swapped quickly, increasing endurance by a quarter compared to its predecessor.

Technology and AI

DEEP Robotics describes perception as integrated sensor fusion that works reliably even in darkness, backlighting, and flickering illumination, though it does not name individual sensor types. Connectivity options include Ethernet, USB in both generations, and WLAN, plus taps with 5, 12, and 24 volts as well as 72 volts directly from the battery. Runtime is two and a half to four hours with a range of at least ten kilometers.

Market Significance

DEEP Robotics does not publish a price. The significance of the X30 lies not in individual peak specifications but in the combination of weather resistance, shift operation via quick-change battery, and a price below comparable Western models. For many Chinese grid operators, it has become the standard equipment.
