Overview

The Booster K1 is a compact humanoid robot from Booster Robotics, primarily designed as a development and competition platform. It has gained recognition particularly through achievements in robot soccer.

Design

The K1 is 95 centimeters tall and weighs 19.5 kilograms, making it handy and portable. It features 22 degrees of freedom, distributed across the legs with six each, the arms with four each, and the head with two. Its equipment includes an RGBD camera, a microphone array, a loudspeaker, and a nine-axis IMU.

Technology and AI

Depending on configuration, the K1 contains an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX with 8 gigabytes and 117 TOPS computing power, with up to 200 TOPS in higher configurations. The platform is designed for further development and offers interfaces for both low-level joint and sensor data as well as high-level motion control. It is compatible with the ROS2 communication protocol.

Market Significance

The K1 is positioned as a comparatively affordable entry-level platform and targets research and education. At RoboCup 2025 in Salvador, Brazil, a German team based on the K1 won the KidSize Humanoid League and clearly prevailed against a Chinese opponent in the final.
