Description

Overview

ALLEX is the first humanoid platform from South Korean company WIRobotics, founded in 2021 by four former engineers from Samsung's robotics division. ALLEX was unveiled in August 2025 initially as an upper body system, and at CES 2026 the company presented an advanced version. The name is short for "ALL-EXperience" and describes the goal of capturing as many physical experiences from the real world as possible.

Design

ALLEX is currently a humanoid upper body without legs. The hand and arm together offer 15 degrees of freedom, including fingers and wrist. The hand weighs approximately 700 grams, with the assembly below the shoulder weighing about five kilograms. With one hand, the robot can lift over three kilograms, fingertip force reaches up to 40 Newtons, and hook grip strength exceeds 30 kilograms. Repeatability accuracy at the fingertip is less than half a millimeter.

Technology and AI

What makes ALLEX special is its full-body compliance across the arms, hands, neck, and hips. Specialized low-friction actuators and a gravity compensation mechanism allow the robot to sense forces in the range of approximately 100 grams, even without dedicated force sensors. This so-called backdrivability closes the gap between simulation and real-world application, making it easier to train new capabilities.

Market Significance

WIRobotics positions ALLEX as a versatile robot that works safely alongside humans and handles both fine and powerful tasks. The company raised approximately 100 billion Won, about 68 million US dollars, in a Series B funding round and is therefore building a developer ecosystem that includes a simulation model of ALLEX. This makes WIRobotics one of the most visible South Korean representatives in the competition for dexterous humanoid robots.
