Overview

The G1 Plus, written as G1+ by the manufacturer, is the revised version of the Unitree G1, the humanoid with which Unitree Robotics from Hangzhou dramatically reduced the price of a walking biped. It was unveiled on September 14, 2026. Unitree highlights six improvements that specifically address the known weaknesses of its predecessor. The list price is USD 15,000 for the standard version.

Construction

The basic dimensions have remained unchanged. The G1+ is 134 centimeters tall, weighs around 35 kilograms with battery, and can be folded down to 69 centimeters. New is a neck with two joints: the head tilts up to 36 degrees and rotates 110 degrees to each side, whereas on the G1 it was still fixed. This brings the standard version to 25 degrees of freedom, while the EDU version depending on configuration with hands reaches up to 45. Each arm lifts approximately three kilograms, around four in the EDU version.

Technology and AI

The biggest changes are in the motors. Shoulder and hip drives deliver 110 percent more peak torque according to the manufacturer and run 72 percent cooler in the process, while the arm motors increase by 43 percent. Sensors include a stereo camera, a wide-angle camera in the chest, a 3D lidar, a microphone array with six capsules, and touch sensors on the head. The battery lasts for around two hours. New is that the robot can also be continuously powered via an external power supply, making long test runs in the lab significantly easier.

Market Significance

With the G1+, Unitree maintains pressure on the lower price segment. Rather than launching a completely new model, the company addresses exactly the points that were considered weaknesses in the G1: motors that heat up under load, short runtime, and a head that cannot turn to look around. For universities and labs already working with the G1, this is an obvious upgrade. For competitors from Europe and the US, it becomes even more difficult to keep up price-wise in the entry-level segment.
