Overview

ARI is a social and collaborative robot from Spanish manufacturer PAL Robotics, designed for research and applications in human-robot interaction. The focus is on perception, communication, and expressive interaction.

Construction

ARI measures approximately 1.65 meters and stands on a mobile platform with differential drive. A touchscreen is mounted on the torso, the arms can gesture, and the head features LCD eyes for expressive eye movements. With the standard 40-Ah battery, approximately eight hours of operation is possible, while an optional 60-Ah battery extends runtime to about twelve hours.

Technology and AI

ARI recognizes and identifies people, handles speech and intent recognition, and offers multi-channel perception for human-robot interaction. Connection is provided via dual-band WLAN and Bluetooth. For motion planning, the robot is compatible with MoveIt.

Market Significance

ARI is used primarily in research, social environments, and entertainment applications, and is represented in several European research projects.
