Overview

Argos is the quadruped robot from AiMOGA Robotics, the robotics division of Chinese automaker Chery. It was unveiled in January 2026 in Wuhu and was part of the company's European presentation at IFA Berlin in early September 2026. The robot targets households, neighborhoods, and operational facilities rather than industrial applications.

Design

At 13.6 kilograms, Argos is among the lighter representatives of its class. Twelve compact joint motors drive the four legs, enabling speeds of up to 2.5 meters per second, climbing steps up to 15 centimeters and slopes up to 40 degrees. A 5-kilogram payload capacity may sound modest, but it suffices for groceries or tools. The battery with 4400 milliampere-hours and 126 watt-hours provides approximately two hours of operation.

Technology and AI

Perception is handled by an HD panoramic camera, two ultrasonic radars with 30-degree aperture, a ring microphone with six capsules, and front lighting for nighttime operation. The robot responds to voice and touch commands in under 50 milliseconds and recognizes German and English commands with 93 percent accuracy according to the manufacturer. Beyond thirteen basic movements, it masters five dance sequences, which clearly indicates its target audience. A 90-decibel speaker serves communication and deterrence during patrols.

Market Significance

The fact that an automotive corporation is building a robot dog for private households is remarkable. Chery is thereby transferring manufacturing volume and licensing logistics from automotive production to a consumer product, which should drive down the price in the medium term. An official price has not yet been published; sales proceed via an inquiry form. As of now, there is no distribution partner in Switzerland.
