Overview

The Quester1, or Q1 for short, is a particularly small humanoid robot developed by AgiBot (Zhiyuan Robotics) and also introduced under the name Prime Quester Q1. At approximately 80 centimeters tall, it is compact enough to be transported in a backpack and is designed for research, development, and personal use.

Design

The Q1 is about 0.8 meters tall and weighs only a fraction of the larger AgiBot humanoids. It features whole-body force control and impact-resistant quasi-direct-drive joints. These joints were newly developed for the Q1 and are, according to the company, smaller than an egg, while maintaining precise force control and rapid dynamic response.

Technology and AI

The robot includes voice interaction capabilities and can be used, according to the manufacturer, as a dance coach or for English language learning. AgiBot positions the Q1 as a development platform whose software and tools can be updated over time, and identifies long-term research in manipulation, navigation, and human-robot interaction as key application areas.

Market Significance

The Q1 is marketed as one of the first small humanoids with whole-body force control and is intended to narrow the gap between laboratory-bound prototypes and personal devices.
