Overview

The D1 Ultra belongs to the AGIQUAD quadruped series from Shanghai-based AgiBot, also known as Zhiyuan Robotics in German-speaking regions. In early September 2026, AgiBot showcased the D1 series at LEAP in Riyadh, bringing broader attention to it in the European and Middle Eastern markets for the first time. Within the series, the Ultra is the compact workhorse, with the heavier models D1 Max and D1 MaxPro positioned above it.

Construction

When standing, the robot measures 630 by 360 by 420 millimeters; when folded, it shrinks to a height of 145 millimeters and fits into a transport case. The housing consists of vacuum-pressed aluminum, with core components sealed and corrosion-protected, featuring an IP54 protection rating. The four legs operate with a peak torque of approximately 48 Newton-meters per joint and use dual-encoder control that requires no recalibration. A mounting point sits on the back for additional payloads such as Lidar, depth cameras, RTK positioning, or cellular modules.

Technology and AI

Gait control is based on reinforcement learning. The robot maintains its own balance, is considered tip-resistant, and handles inclines up to forty degrees. It traverses stairs continuously up to a step height of 16 centimeters, and can jump 35 centimeters in distance and height. Connections are via Ethernet, USB, SBUS, and UART. AgiBot provides its proprietary software modules AGIQUADLoco for terrain mobility and AGIQUADNav for autonomous navigation, as well as URDF models for Isaac Sim and MuJoCo.

Market Significance

AgiBot is among the few Chinese robotics companies with international safety certifications and reported delivery of its fifteen-thousandth robot in June 2026. The D1 Ultra is not the flagship product but rather the volume device for patrol operations, facility inspection, and education. The manufacturer does not list a price on the product page. There is currently no distribution partner in Switzerland; sales are conducted through the English-language online shop and direct distribution.
