The Isaac 0 from Weave Robotics is a stationary household robot that focuses on a single task: folding laundry. Rather than moving around the home, it stays in one place and works there with quiet precision.

Design

The robot features a neck with four degrees of freedom, two arms with six degrees of freedom each, simple single-axis hands, and a single-axis torso. For operation, it requires its own work surface of approximately 1.5 by 2 meters and a stable internet connection. Currently, it folds t-shirts, hoodies, pants, towels, and underwear.

Technology and AI

Isaac 0 coordinates its arm movements using learning software that is designed to improve over time. When the robot encounters difficulty with a challenging garment or an error, a remote specialist briefly takes control and hands it back after a few seconds.

Market Significance

Weave Robotics offers the Isaac 0 for a purchase price of around 8,000 US dollars or via subscription for approximately 450 US dollars per month, initially for customers in the San Francisco area. With its successor Isaac 1, the company has already introduced a mobile platform for tidying up.
