Overview

The Bimanual robot comes from Indian company Svaya Robotics based in Hyderabad, founded in 2018. It is a two-armed platform for factory automation that is not necessarily designed as a complete full-body humanoid.

Design

The system operates with a total of 17 actuators and features two arms with seven degrees of freedom each, modeled on the natural movement of the human arm and capable of working in confined spaces.

Technology and AI

Svaya leverages its own expertise with powerful actuators, controllers, and perception. The focus is on skilled manipulation through whole-body force control and visual intelligence. In a demonstration, the robot autonomously completed a box-handling task using both arms.

Market Significance

According to the company, systems are deployed at India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and at several Indian Institutes of Technology, indicating a strong foothold in the Indian research and industrial ecosystem.
