Overview

K0 is the first humanoid from the AI Sapiens series by South Korean manufacturer ROBOTIS. The device is designed as an open research and development platform and comes with open-source documentation.

Design

The K0 measures approximately 1.3 meters and weighs about 34 kilograms. It features 23 degrees of freedom, including six in each leg, five in each arm, and a single axis in the hip.

Technology and AI

K0 is powered by ROBOTIS's proprietary DYNAMIXEL-Q actuators of the QDD type, which combine low gear reduction with a high-torque motor and integrated control electronics. This enables good back-drivability and precise torque control. On board is an NPU with 6 TOPS computing power, powered by a battery rated at 46.8 volts and 9000 mAh. The platform supports reinforcement learning in NVIDIA Isaac Sim as well as imitation learning.

Market Significance

ROBOTIS positions K0 as an open reference platform for Physical AI in research, education, and product development. With this, the company joins the growing roster of open-source humanoid platforms.
