Overview

The PUDU D9 is Pudu Robotics' first full-size biped humanoid from Shenzhen, one of the world's largest providers of commercial service robots. It was unveiled in late December 2024 as the company's entry into the top tier of robotics. Pudu brings experience from tens of thousands of delivered delivery and cleaning robots to the table.

Construction

With a height of 1.70 meters and a weight of 65 kilograms, the D9 matches the proportions of an adult. A total of 42 degrees of freedom and a maximum joint torque of 352 newton-meters ensure mobility, with a payload capacity of 20 kilograms, 10 per arm. The arms are equipped with proprietary DH11 hands featuring eleven degrees of freedom, twelve tactile sensor zones, and over 1000 sensor pixels for dexterous grasping.

Technology and AI

The D9 moves at up to 2 meters per second, climbs stairs, and handles ramps. For perception, it combines RGB and depth cameras, touch sensors, and an inertial measurement unit. Processing is handled by 275 TOPS of onboard computing power. This enables the robot to create semantic 3D maps of its environment in real time and navigate visually. Demonstrated applications include cleaning tasks and bimanual manipulation.

Market Significance

Pudu explicitly pursues the goal of economically viable embodied intelligence and can market the D9 through its existing global distribution network for service robots. This sets the company apart from many startups that still need to build distribution structures. An official price has not yet been announced, though pre-sales have been announced.
