Overview

The MagicBot X1 is the largest model from Chinese manufacturer MagicLab based in Wuxi and was showcased in California in April 2026. It stands above the compact Z1 and the older Gen1, measuring a full adult height of 180 centimeters for the first time. At WAIC in Shanghai, MagicLab placed the X1 at the center of its own presentation in July 2026, alongside two additional new products.

Construction

The robot weighs 70 kilograms with a wingspan of 158 centimeters and leg length of 92 centimeters. MagicLab specifies 31 active degrees of freedom, distributed across two in the head, seven per arm, three in the hips, and six per leg. The joint modules achieve peak torque of at least 350 newton-meters and at maximum at least 400. For the housing, the manufacturer combines aerospace-grade aluminum, titanium alloy, and high-strength plastics, cooled by air. Notable is the range of motion: MagicLab states it has expanded the play of the main joints by at least half compared to the previous generation.

Technology and AI

Power supply consists of two batteries with 18 amp-hours each, which can be swapped without shutting down, enabling round-the-clock continuous operation. In the base version, an eight-core processor runs with an Orin NX for AI computation; the developer variant X1 Ultra can be upgraded up to an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Thor with 2070 TOPS and opens interfaces for custom algorithms. Perception includes a stereo camera module as well as RGB-D cameras at head and hips; a lidar is optional. According to the company, the X1 relies on its own world model Magic-Mix and its self-developed dexterous hand.

Market Significance

MagicLab manufactures hardware and software in-house and, alongside humanoids, also builds robot dogs and individual joint modules. With the X1, the company moves away from demonstration machines and targets patrol, logistics, tours, and industrial material handling. MagicLab does not provide a list price; distribution is handled by inquiry. Noteworthy remains the approach to transport: According to the manufacturer, the robot packs and unpacks itself, significantly reducing the effort when rolling out small fleets.
