Overview

Luna is a full-size interactive humanoid robot by manufacturer LimX Dynamics, which was extensively presented in May 2026. Notable features include its textile covering, which positions it for performances and public interaction, as well as its fluid, highly human-like movement.

Design

Luna stands 160 centimetres tall, weighs 54 kilograms with battery, and features 27 degrees of freedom. The arms can carry up to three kilograms, though the actual load capacity varies significantly depending on posture. LimX offers various hand variants, including a standard hand, a fist, and a five-finger hand with additional degrees of freedom. Advanced thermal management reduces critical temperature values compared to previous generations by approximately 30 percent according to the manufacturer, allowing the robot to remain safe to touch even during extended performances.

Technology and AI

Luna is powered by the second generation of the in-house motion control system SYS 0, achieving walking speeds of up to five kilometres per hour, plus turns, dances, and even splits. Through the VideoGenMotion framework, the robot can learn complex human movements from videos. Multimodal capabilities such as speech, vision, gesture recognition, and movement mirroring enable it to respond in real-time to the audience through facial expressions and body language. The battery provides approximately four hours of continuous operation.

Market Significance

In the Chinese market, Luna is priced at 298,000 Renminbi, equivalent to approximately 41,000 US dollars. With this comparatively affordable price point and its focus on stage performance and interaction, LimX Dynamics positions the robot outside of classical industrial applications.
