Overview

Apptronik from Austin, Texas unveiled the second generation of its humanoid in June 2026. Apollo 2 is the workhorse behind the newly opened Robot Park, the company's own training and data center. The machine targets warehouses, factories, and retail environments, where it picks, sorts, and loads machinery.

Construction

The robot stands approximately 1.82 meters tall and can carry about 25 kilograms with both hands. New is the modular base: for environments with stairs and tight spaces, there is a bipedal version; for halls with high throughput, a stable wheeled base. Swappable batteries for approximately four hours of runtime enable nearly uninterrupted operation. An LED mouth, a chest display with status indicators, and coordinated light signals make visible to humans what the robot is currently doing. According to the manufacturer, the patented drives operate with over 90 percent efficiency.

Technology and AI

The in-house software layer Artemis coordinates perception, planning, safety, and whole-body control; the fleet management system Fleet Connect monitors entire robot teams. For its intelligence, Apptronik works closely with Google DeepMind: data collected in the Robot Park feeds into Gemini Robotics, DeepMind's robotics foundation models.

Market Significance

With a valuation of around 5.5 billion US dollars, Apptronik ranks among the leading humanoid companies in the USA. The predecessor Apollo has been gathering real-world experience for some time, including in pilot projects at Mercedes-Benz and with logistics provider GXO. With the selectable base, the company pragmatically approaches industrial customers who don't need bipeds but rather available labor.
